A national child safety program has gone into effect in Grants Pass, Oregon to finger print local children. The finger printing service is a component of the Keeping Kids safe Project, which gives parents the opportunity to have their children get fingerprinted for free. The purpose of the finger printing is to create a fingerprint card, which will give the authorities as much information as possible about a child in the case that he or she goes missing or is abducted.
Law enforcement officials emphasize that in cases of child abduction time is of the essence, and having a child’s fingerprints already in the system can save the police hours and increase the chance of the child being found.
