In Hudson County, New Jersey, the Prosecutor’s and Sheriff’s Offices joined up to hold an event to fingerprint children in the event of their disappearance. Parents brought their kids to a local mall to do a fingerprinting chart with officers of the state, who planned the event to reach out to the community about child safety.
Along with the ink fingerprints, the charts also include a child’s name, D.O.B., and a photograph for parents to keep, only providing the information to law enforcement in the case that a child goes missing. Local authorities hope to hold similar events to offer more parents peace of mind, and the information recorded helps police immensely should a disappearance occur.
