Every ten years, the United States Constitution requires a nationwide census to determine the number of seats each state receives in the U.S. House of Representatives. 2020 is the 24th year of this tradition, and many have applied for temporary positions as census takers to ensure that as many U.S. citizens as possible will be represented in their local and federal government.
One of the requirements for this position is to get fingerprints taken in order to undergo and pass a criminal background check. These fingerprints will be taken electronically and submitted to the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division to see if the prints are associated with a criminal record. This report is then reviewed by the Census Bureau to determine whether or not the candidate is qualified for the job.
